Bean There, Sun That.
I was asked by a friend of mine to design a character, (more like a mascot I think...) for his new Soy Bean Stall, named "Sunrise Bean"! I was surprised at the fact that my friend had decided to jump on the business bandwagon despite the fact that he is an engineer. He reasoned that a business is the only way to get rich in the shortest amount of time. For now, I have to agree with him.
This gotta be the first time I tried my hands at designing a NON-HUMAN character for commercial use, it was a fun experience, and I must say that the skills I had learn while drawing SKOOKUM! did come in handy while I designed the character. I did a total of 4 characters, and the one you see above, is the one that was finally chose for the stall's logo. My friend told me that although the design stays the same, the colors had been altered to fit the signboard of the stall; he promised me send a photo of it sometime next week.
Just as I thought things were over, he approached me once more asking me to draw 10 more pictures of the same character in different poses! As much as I was excited, I was worried if I could meet the dateline, for my Special Term at school is starting soon, and seriously had to get the new page ready for upload.
Crud....
