Oh My God, Harry's Back
That's right, as I type this , millions after millions of Harry Potter fans are probably sticking thier noses between the pages of the latest book in the Harry Potter saga: Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince.
No, I have not read it yet, hell, I haven't even bought the book. Well, I used to be a solid Harry Potter fan, till for some weird reason I am no longer as enthusastic for Rowling's book. It all began in my European literature class when Dr Dawson compared J.K Rowling's novel to Feodor Dostoevsky's "Crime and Punishment". He said both are long books and are also page turners, the difference? The latter has more substance. And it is true, I LOVED "Crime and Punishment", and I felt gulit by the fact that I was missing out so much great works of literature for a children's novel... which is getting draggier.
Do not mistake me, I DO think J.K Rowling is a good writer, and I think she should be read, just that I don't think her book should be worth more than a Neil Gaiman novel/graphic novel! Gaiman's my favorite Gothic/fantasy/comic write and is just a good writer, as Rowling, and he is going for only US$19:95, while Rowling's going for US$29...
I gonna be really bad (my apologies Rowling) and wait till it gets cheaper. In the meantime there are loads of great fantasy writers out there waiting to be read and enjoyed, and they're going for only US$6.95 for a paperback. Yippee.
